With His Eye

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. Psalm 32:8

I have pondered this scripture for eons it seems. It has been both comforting and complex to me. I couldn’t understand how the Lord God Almighty could guide us with His eye. I mean I can’t actually see the eye of the Lord so how in the world does this help me especially when I need to make life changing decisions?  I can handle what pair of cute new heels to buy. But what happens when I need to choose which road to take? What happens when I am at the end of myself and do not know what to do or where to go?

Then I was reminded of a time when I was a little girl.  I lived in Michigan where it seemed like it snowed more often than not. My protective mother would bundle me up in a gray snowsuit that was puffy and made swishing noises when I walked.  She would cover my head with the hood, zip the zipper just below my nose and leave only a tiny little space for my eyes to show. By the time I left the house I felt like a furnace inside of that snowsuit. I can remember walking out of the door and heading to a snow covered field.  I could only see in front of me and had to turn my body completely around to see anything else for the abominable snowsuit which held me captive.

paths in snow2

On this particular winter day there were three charted paths across that mountainous field of snow.  One path led to a forest where most of the older children went to hangout after school. The second path led to my elementary school. The other path…oh the coveted third path led to the penny candy store around the corner.  I had one whole dollar which would equate to one hundred pieces of candy if I took that path!

Penny candy throw backs

I had a decision to make.  I knew the path to the woods was out of the story. That was an easy elimination. But there were two other paths in front of me.  As I anticipated my next step, I could already taste the fruity tootsie rolls, tart lemon heads, squirrel nut zippers, and sweet Swedish fish. This store was the highlight of my life! The temptation was fierce. I pondered, looking at both paths.  I weighed my options but I could not resist the sweet treats calling my name.

I made the decision. I took three steps down the path to the penny candy store when I felt a warm penetrating presence on the back of my neck. My heart began to beat fast. I stopped in my tracks and turned all the way around in my snowsuit to see who was watching me.  My house was only about four houses away from the field and I could see my mother in the kitchen window with her arms folded, squinting one of her eyes. I had been discovered.  The intense look in my mom’s one squinted eye guided me to the correct path to school.  She didn’t have to open the window to yell or scream and she didn’t even have to run outside. Her eye guided me to the path and once I was on the right path, she nodded and blew a kiss my way.

The Lord does the same thing with us. Even when we decide to take the wrong path, His loving eye guides us unto our desired destination. When we belong to Him, we can feel His gaze and loving correction.  Now there may be times when the Lord wants to yell and scream at our crazy decisions but He doesn’t. Instead, His loving kindness draws us near to Him. His beautiful presence encourages us to follow in the footsteps that He has already walked out for us.  He leads us on the right path and makes us strong so that we may walk on past temptation.  He is always watching.  The Lord is always near. He instructs us on our journey and guides us with His eye.

True Citrus – Truly Delicious! Summer Berry Medley

While in that famous but oh so crowded super store, I discovered this impeccably delicious beauty!  It is the True Lemon Fruit Orchard summer berry medley. If you love water but sometimes want a little extra treat without all of the calories, sugar and artificial ingredients, then this product is for you.  As I was in the isle of the store, wondering what sweet treat I could enjoy, these bright and bold packages whispered my name.

I decided to give it a shot.  I made my purchase, took it home, poured its essence in my cold refreshing bottle of water and tasted…My taste buds could not believe what was happening! No yucky dish detergent taste like some of its competitors and no chalky aftertaste. Instead, real fruit flavor with real fruit essence.

Frsh fruit

I immediately called True Citrus (like who has time to do this?) but I was that impressed with their product!  True Citrus was so happy to hear from me and mailed me tons of sample packets of all of their products and five coupons for future purchases.

Sweeten up your super green smoothie with a half or full packet of summer berry medley.

I highly recommend this product as they have new flavors along with my favorite fruit orchard summer berry medley. There are no artificial flavors, colors  or preservatives. Each packet has only 30 calories of the most refreshing, all natural fruit beverage ingredients that you will ever taste.

Spring is here and Summer is coming!  This product would be perfect in a large glass filled with ice, strawberries and lemons, sitting on your sun porch with friends, catching up on old times.

I know you will enjoy and when you do send the people over at true citrus an email and tell them just how much! They will be happy to hear from you. Tell them Simone sent you. 🙂

Hotwire! Hot Dang!

I hope that you never pay retail for anything.  It took me a while to learn this but before money leaves my wallet I try to save as much as I can.  For those who have not visited sites such as Hotwire (there are a few others but this is my favorite), I want to tell you in 6 easy steps how to be most successful in choosing your hotel stay each and every time.

If you are a risk taker, this site is for you! You can stay at 4 and 5 star hotels for a fraction of the price. The name of the hotel is revealed after you book so you want to make sure you do a little research first.  Using Hotwire is literally like buying blind or walking by faith.

walk by faith

1. On the hotwire.com site, pick the city and state in which you would like to stay.  If you have a general idea of the area, it will benefit you more (i.e Seaworld I-drive South Orlando, FL).  Right below that, pick the days you want to stay. Weekends are a little more expensive than weekdays but not too much.

2. Next, Hotwire will give you a list of hotels. Look at the customer rating.  This is very important.  To be most successful try not stay anywhere where the customer satisfaction rating is below 85% .  Picking hotels with 90 to 100% customer satisfaction will serve you better, so going below 85% may not give you the best results.  The rating will show next to the hotels provided.

3.  If you are unfamiliar with the area in which you would like to stay, Hotwire will show you on a map the general location of where the hotel is located, i.e New York City, Downtown.  Research hotels in the area including restaurants and things to do. Make sure the area is suitable for your stay.

General hotel locations on Hotwire area map downtown NYC.

4.  If you are new to Hotwire, they will give you $25 off your first stay which     usually pays for the taxes and fees. Download the app or call Hotwire directly to add the savings before you book 855-312-2084.

5.  After you have researched the area and you have picked your hotel based upon 85% to 100% customer satisfaction and the star rating of your choice ( 4-5 star is recommend) book your stay.

6.  Now wait for it…wait for it.  As soon as your method of payment is processed the name of your hotel is revealed!  This last step can be really fun especially with friends or a loved one.

So there you did it!  You have picked a quality hotel and saved a boat load of money.  I have saved up to 70% on my stays and I have not been dissatisfied with any of the hotels.  Hotwire also has flight and airport car reservations so be sure to compare those prices too.  Below are some of the hotels in which I have stayed and saved.

Rosen I-drive
Rosen Centre International Drive Orlando, FL $57 per night 4 star rating.  Saved $154 per night. 90% customer satisfaction.
Hyatt Regency Orlando
Hyatt Regency Seaworld South – I drive, $101 per night, 4.5 Star rating. Saved $99 per night. 95% customer satisfaction.
jameson suites augusta
Jameson Inn smaller town in Augusta, GA $45 per night, 3.5 Star rating,  Saved $55 per night. 85% customer satisfaction.
Park Central Hotel, Old Naples, FL $69 per night, 4 star rating. $100 savings per night. Loved this boutique style hotel! 95% customer satisfaction.

Have lots of fun with the money you will save and enjoy your vacation.  Let me know of any travel savings you have come across!

Eating Clean and Healthy while Saving Money at Trader Joe’s and Aldi

Trader Joe'saldi

I moved to Florida four years ago to escape the miserable cold of my beloved Pennsylvania life.  Well when I arrived in Florida, there was no Trader Joe’s and no one had even heard of it but thank goodness they did have an Aldi.  I missed the specialty items of Trader Joe’s so much that I prayed for two years for it to come to this area and now central Florida has three stores!

But I digress. The purpose of this post is to tell you about these amazing brothers Trader Joe’s and Aldi. We all remember when Organic food became popular.  Many of us spent hundreds of dollars on about two bags of groceries that lasted maybe two or three days. Eating organic was expensive but many felt buying whole foods was a necessity.

I knew there had to be another way to eat healthy and that is when I discovered Trader Joe’s and Aldi.  Trader Joe’s and Aldi sell many items under its own private labels.  This allows them to provide their products to the public at greatly discounted prices. Most major grocery stores can carry 60,000+ items while Trader Joe’s and Aldi carries around 4,000 to 5,000+ items.

So who shops at Trader Joe’s and Aldi?

  • The person who wants quality whole foods at an affordable price
  • The family not stuck on name brands
  • Shoppers who do not want to eat food that is made with fillers and artificial ingredients
  • The person with a millionaire mind who knows saving money is key
That's me checking out the ingredients
That’s me checking out the ingredients of one of Aldi’s Special Buys.

For wine lovers, the selection at Trader Joe’s starts at $2.99 and it is good wine, not the cheap stuff that gives you a headache after one glass!

Pinot Grigio, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardoney, Merlot, White Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc

So what can you expect when you shop at Aldi?  Expect low prices and quality food without a lot of fillers. Aldi has recently taken pride to rid their products of MSG and many artificial flavors.  You will need a quarter for a shopping cart but no worries you will get it back once you return it to its station.  Aldi customers are so generous that often times someone will give you their cart in the parking lot.  Bring your own tote bag to pack your groceries or you can purchase paper or plastic for a nominal 6-10 cents. These two features help keep the prices low.

Quality food at low prices

And what can you expect when you shop at Trader Joe’s? Expect an invigorating, energetic atmosphere where the products are bright and lively and the employees carry the same demeanor. Expect free samples of new food products and a free mini cup of their featured coffee of the day.

Expect brilliant flowers and crisp vegetables. The coveted paper bags with handles are free at Trader Joe’s and you can even re-use them at Aldi.

While the stores may be small, they are not lacking in quality, product and service.  The fruit is colorful and fresh, the isles are usually faced (a shelf stocker’s term) and they have a no hassle return policy. If you do not like something, just return it! Hopefully there is at least one of these stores in your area, if not do as I did and just pray.  You may get three! 🙂

Have you ever not known what to do?! Yeah well me too.

My tongue is the pen of a skillful writer

This is the reason why I created this blog.  I can certainly tell you what I have learned pass or fail in many situations.  Every decision is not always easy. Sometimes a point of view from someone we do not know may cause us to have that “ah haa!” moment.

Follow me as we discuss life’s events and the wisdom connected to each experience.  Fitting each topic here would be difficult but some of the things I will be sharing with you are:

  • The best products and services
  • How to save money on just about everything you purchase
  • Fine food and fine wine
  • Relationships and intimacy
  • Business and entrepreneurship
  • And a lot of fun topics such as traveling and beauty & fashion

Oh wait…who am I?  My name is Simone Fallen (Fal lon).  Writing is one of my life’s hobbies.  My first publication, “The Unborn Child” was too controversial to win first prize in a grade school contest. The judges thought a ten year old should not be writing on topics such as abortion.  But the older generation in my family would always tell me that I had an “old soul” and encouraged me to never stop writing.

Throughout the years people would come to me and ask for advice.  It was humbling and scary at the same time because I just did not know what they saw in me.  But I grew to understand that what they saw in me was God’s wisdom.

I would compare it to a time before navigation systems were popular. While traveling with my mother as a young child, if we became lost, she would always look for a mailman or woman to ask for directions instead of asking just some random person.  My mom knew that that postal worker had traveled the roads in which she was trying to find.  If they had not been on that exact road, they at least knew how to point us in the right direction.

So it is with wisdom.  What I have gleaned from life really has nothing to do with age. You can seek wisdom at any age.  It’s all about learning to make sound decisions and learning also from the not so sound ones. Wisdom is all about opening up, sharing the roads of your life and pointing others in the right direction.
